The simplest approach is probably to copy the interconnection of the 
Cypress EZUSB devices used on Xilinx ML40x (and 50x) boards.  This is a 
fairly low performance solution, but it is known to work and doesn't 
require complications like PCI etc.  There are linux drivers available 
to support this device.
