RE: [microblaze-uclinux] what does "petalinux-copy-autoconfig" script??

Hi Raul,

in fact this doubt came from next situation:

i have a Spartan 3E1600 revA board, and i have DTE serial for my uclinux console and a DCE serial for other purpouse, but when i want to switch my DCE serial for my uclinux console, appers message:

Found romfs
..
New klimit:

and then nothing appers (it stops there), and i use exactly the same kernel configuration for both, the steps that i do for switch frome DTE to DCE for my uclinux console are:

1. Changes in the Software platform Settings (in EDK) stdin / stdout from DTE to DCE, and click in Generate Libraries and BSPs option (to update Kconfig.auto file).

2. Then i run "petalinux-copy-autoconfig" script to update my petalinux platform

3. Then i run make menuconfig and configure my kernel, in fact is the same configuration tha i was before. (I probe also in kernel hacking -> "early printk uart" change address to my DCE peripheral, but it did not work)

4. then my image.bin is generated and i downloaded to my board via XMD.

In few words, my uclinux console works only for DTE serial and does not work for DCE serial, what changes do i need to my uclinux console works in DCE serial??

CURIOUS NOTE: Also i have a Spartan 3E 500 revD board, but here is opposite, because my uclinux console works only with DCE serial, and does not work with DTE serial!!!, so i think that the answer is in what "petalinux-copy-autoconfig" do.

Well, thanks a lot for your help

Hi Moises,

As far as I know the "petalinux-copy-autoconfig" script has nothing to do with the "make menuconfig" configurations. This script only copies to the right place the 'auto-config.in' or 'kconfig.auto' file (depending on the kernel version), which contain only information about your hardware (memory mapping, driver options...) so that Petalinux "knows" where is it going to work. You can take a look at this files under your_folder\microblaze_0\libsrc\petalinux_v1_00_b and you will see what is really being copied.

regards.

Asunto: [microblaze-uclinux] what does "petalinux-copy-autoconfig" script??

when i run "petalinux-copy-autoconfig" script, what are exactly the files that are modified??

because when i make a new platform, and take a look of "make menuconfig" window options, these options are the same that when i make a new platform and then run "petalinux-copy-autoconfig", so petalinux-copy-autoconfig does nothing.

i think that petalinux-copy-autoconfig script changes default options of my "make menuconfig" windows, but maybe i have a wrong idea of what petalinux-copy-autoconfig does.

thanks
