[microblaze-uclinux] PetaLinux and SQLite and Python

I am interested in running Python & SQLite and possibly ClearSilver in
PetaLinux on MicroBlaze, but I have run into some conflicting
information if this is even possible.  Has anyone here run Python and
SQLite on MicroBlaze?  How difficult is it to do this?  

Also, it appears that some packages like Python are a pain to cross
compile. Sometimes it is easier to set up a native build environment
that runs in an emulator to build troublesome packages. Is Microblaze
supported by Qemu or any similar emulator that can be used to set up
this kind of build environment?
