[microblaze-uclinux] ANN: PetaLinux SVN servers opened up
Hi folks,
Thanks for inspiration from Frank Lombardo, I've opened up the revision
control system where PetaLinux lives.
You can access it via secure SVN here:
https://developer.petalogix.com/pr/internal/petalinux/trunk
Previous releases, as tags, are available here:
https://developer.petalogix.com/pr/internal/petalinux/tags
This is not intended to avoid a tested release cycle, but rather give
access to in-progress work and patches between releases.
You will be prompted for credentials when you connect: user "guest" with
no password. Access is read-only. SSH protocol is required, basically
because many web proxies choke on the webdav protocol used by subversion
- tunnelling through SSH gets around that. The server is reasonably
beefy, but please don't abuse it!
Due to the way the trunk is used, I cannot guarantee that it will never
break, as we are working on new PetaLinux releases it's likely that
stuff will be committed there without being generated as patches posted
to the mailing list. Depending on what sort of use this repo gets, I'll
see about something a bit more sophisticated (maybe an svn commit
mailing list or similar).
Long term my goal is to make PetaLinux more of a distribution than a
kernel development tree. With the work Michal is doing to push
MicroBlaze to mainline, PetaLinux releases should will become more of a
snapshot and test affair. Kernel development and patches will be
directed upstream.
However, the kernel that we are pushing to kernel.org has a lot of
functionality removed, basically this was to ease entry. So, things
like consistent memory, stubbed PCI support, all Xilinx device drivers,
are all stripped out. Once we get the core arch in, then we have to
start cleaning and pushing the other bits as well. So, it will be a
little while yet before I can be basing PetaLinux releases from
kernel.org trees.
Regards,
John
