Just quick update - I have got my hands on a Virtex5 board
and tried the exact same code (apart from a few address changes) and have found
it works fine at gigabit speeds – so I guess the problem is between the
SoftMAC core and the PHY.
When I get the time I will try instantiating a softMAC on
the Virtex5 to see if the fault lies in the PHY or the SoftMAC, as I would
still like to use the Spartan3 if possible.
