yes of course you can.

Just for clarification. In PetaLinux are 2 ethernet drivers which could be
used in these days (+ there are two old drivers too).

There are two driver
1. drivers/net/xilinx_emaclite - for OPB/XPS ethernet lite IPs - this driver you will use
2. drivers/net/xilinx_lltemac - for XPS LL Temac IP (You called it Ethernet MAC)

+ two old drivers
3. drivers/net/xilinx_temac - for plb temac IP
4. drivers/net/xilinx_emac - for opb ethernet IP


They are standard network drivers and you can program any network application
which you want.
