By "not recognised" I assume you mean the Xilinx USB cable drivers?

There's a reason we recommend a specific Linux distro - CentOS 5 -
because it works.

Anyway what you are talking about is sort of discussed here:

At what stage in the build process is this error reported?  What is the context?

Option 1 - use the recommend Linux distro
Option 2 - google around to find out how to succesfully use Xilinx
tools and cable drivers on Ubuntu
Option 3 - mess around with a split Windows/Linux enviromnent.

Depending on your Linux skills, it might change the relative priority
of options (1) vs (2).
