I found and used the following guide to setup EDK 10.1 on Ubuntu, and was able to recognize and program XUP V2Pro board: http://www.aclevername.com/articles/linux-xilinx-tutorial/edk101-ubuntu810.html

Option 3 - mess around with a split Windows/Linux enviromnent.

Depending on your Linux skills, it might change the relative priority
of options (1) vs (2).
