Through MedTeQ, the internationally recognised Biomedical Engineering (BME) group at the University of Queensland facilitate health technology diffusion through projects conducted in collaboration with a team of Queensland’s world-class clinicians, CSIRO’s national medical image processing group and the medical materials group at The University of Washington, USA (UWASH). Clinical partners are a key part of MedTeQ and are involved in the development and trial of prototype devices in conjunction with research staff. For example the cardio-thoracic team at The Prince Charles Hospital (TCPH) provides unique input with an impressive combined experience and the largest patient cohort in Queensland. The Mater Hospital Pathology and Paediatric Sleep Sensor units are also pivotal to our program, one objective of which is to develop robust screening tools and the technology to perform such tests remotely.
