MedTeQ is a Queensland Smart State Centre which aims to bring about significant advances in health technology by drawing together world-leading researchers with clinicians at Brisbane’s major hospitals. Medical diagnostics development is a rapidly growing area world-wide and MedTeQ aims to facilitate the closer alignment of leading world class research within practical clinical frameworks. MedTeQ’s research and development program involves an innovative combination of biomedical engineers with clinicians, focused on providing better medical treatment for hospital patients. This unique combination of professionals provides the expertise to develop devices that will assist medical diagnosis and the management of patients in remote areas. As part of of a Smart State Innovation Grant, two scholarships are available to support PhD candidates working on medical imaging and related technologies and theory projects commencing in 2008.

Details
This scholarship is offered dependent on funds to 2 people and will be awarded for 3 years with a possible extension of 6 months. The Scholarships will be paid at the rate of an APA scholarship + top-up.

Requirements
Applicants are expected to have a Bachelor's degree with honours class I or IIA (or equivalent), or a masters degree. Applicants should have a background in Electrical Engineering, Bio-Medical Engineering, Medical Physics or Mathematics. Applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, or NZ citizens and they are expected to commence their studies as soon as possible in 2008.
