MMDS1400/MMDS7961 - Introduction to Web Design - Reading Group (MMDS7961 only)

MMDS7961 Reading Group

Information

Newsgroup: mmds7961-rg

Please use for discussions, articles, submission if unable to attend the weekly sessions.

Weekly times and dates:

Tuesday 11-12 78/622;Thursday 5-6 78/622.
Alternative: If you can't make either group, perhaps you can read the weekly articles and add comment on the newsgroup that we have set up just for the newsgroups - called mmds7961-rg.

Paper/video/web forum:

I will post these for the first few weeks. After this, it would be good to have postings to the newsgroup for other good reference. I encourage your participation here.

Task each week

Read the set papers and consider these three questions:
1. 'what was the paper about',
2. 'what did they learn', and
3. 'what was missing from the paper.'
In class, we will build further understandings of the papers and their relevance to the web design projects.

Marks

Reading group mark is 10% based on active participation in the discussions, either online or in class each week.
Class group
Class activity will be assessed as follows: 0 %- non attendance; 0.5% attendance with no participation, 1% for attendance and participation.
Students arriving more than 15 minutes after the start of the session or leaving before the end of the session will be deemed to have missed that session.
Online group
Online marks (ie for students who attend neither class) are based for interaction each week - for each reading, students are asked to submit responses to the three questions above, and to respond to submissions from the other online students.
