 Acceptable use of MSDNAA Software

The software that is obtained as part of this Program is restricted to instructional or non commercial research purposes ONLY.   Instructional purposes are defined as conducting educational classes, labs or related programs for teaching and/or learning the Products or concepts related to the Products that are part of this program (for example, classes on software development, introduction to programming languages, systems design and analysis, relevant mathematics courses, relevant science courses, or relevant engineering courses). Research purposes are defined as conducting not for profit research projects*.

 

Examples of Acceptable Instructional and Research Use:

Examples include but are not limited to:

  • A department may use Windows as an instructional tool for teaching operating systems concepts or theory or as a platform to teach about other software included with the MSDNAA program.

 

 

Unacceptable use of MSDNAA Software

MSDN Academic Alliance is not a broad software-licensing program for an entire department. As such, the software that is obtained as part of this Program may NOT be used for any infrastructure purposes whatsoever either in the classroom, the lab,  or administratively.

 

Examples of Unacceptable Use:

Examples include but are not limited to:

  • The software that is part of this Program may not be used in a lab that is not affiliated with a department that is part of the Program.  As such, it may not be used in labs in other departments for courses that do not pertain to the teaching and/or learning of the Products or concepts related to the Products.
