The ITEE On Campus Alumni (OCA - pronounced "Ocka") Subchapter is a student run organisation that promotes professional development and networking of ITEE students with peers, staff and industry.

 

NEWS

OCA joined forces with the Australian Computer Society (ACS) to hold the first OCA-ACS Industry Networking Function, on Thursday 14 May, 2009. Current ITEE students and recent graduates had the opportunity to learn from and network with young dynamic leaders in ICT.

OCA was proud to assist in promoting to students the GOOGLE Tech Talk - "Living in the Cloud - Hosting Data & Apps Using the Google Infrastructure" which was held on 7th April 2009.

OCA members participated in the 2009 Orientation activities on Tuesday 24 February and Wednesday 25th February to help welcome students to the School of IT & Electrical Engineering, and to promote OCA.

IBM Australia Development Laboratories

Neil Readshaw from IBM Australia Development Laboratories, will be delivering a short (30min) presentation to graduating students on Monday 12 October at 10.00am in 78-420.

 

All students in their final year of study in BE (Electrical, Software or Computer Systems) or Bachelor of Information Technology are invited to attend.

There will also be opportunities for students who are in their 3rd year Engineering or 2nd year Information Technology program to apply for Internships with IBM.  (Paid vacation work).

 

We have organised a morning tea on behalf of OCA, at the conclusion of the presentation, and hope that you will be available to attend both this presentation and morning tea.

ICT Crossroads "Strategies for Success" Young IT Forum

Lunch with Dr Ashley Robinson

Speaker: Dr. Ashley Robinson, Engineering Director, Micreo Ltd., and UQ Young Alumnus of the Year, 2002.
Biography: Ashley Robinson (B.E. 1991, Ashley (left) receives the Young Alumnus of the Year award from former UQ Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John Hay, AO. Ph.D. 2000) has over 15 years experience in designing microwave electronic hardware.
From 1991 to 1998, he was with Mitec (later Codan) working on satellite earth station and manufacturing space
qualified hardware, then the 2kW SSPA radar transmitter for the Anzac frigates. In 1998, he joined Filtronic Components
Australia (FCA) to develop wideband airborne radar receivers, then in 2002 he was part of the management buyout of
the FCA business to form Micreo. Since this time, he has been the technical lead developing wideband receivers for
millimetre-wave frequencies, airborne qualified fibre-optic links and most recently receivers for the F/A-18 A/B Hornet and F/A-18 E/F Super-Hornet.

As part of the 2009 ICT Careers Week, the ACS Foundation is giving you the chance to win one of seven iPod Touches, just be telling them what ICT means to you.

Here's how you enter:

ACS ICT Careers Week EVENT - WEDNESDAY 29 JULY 2009 - ICT IS YOUR PASSPORT TO THE FUTURE

STUDENTS WELCOME!

In conjunction with National ICT Careers Week, ACS Queensland is holding an ICT Career Event on Wednesday 29 July. The event is being held in Brisbane CBD, it starts at 4.30pm and goes until 7.30pm. There will be four speakers and the chance for students to network and ask questions of people currently working in ICT.
