8th Australian Workshop on Safety Critical Systems and Software

Canberra, 9-10 October 2003

Sponsored by the ACS's Technical Committee on Safety Critical Systems
and the Australian Safety Critical Systems Club.

The Australian Computer Society's Technical Committee on Safety Critical Systems announces its 8th National Workshop on Safety Critical Systems and Software. This year's workshop will be held in Canberra. The workshop will include practical experience reports on all aspects of safety-critical computer-based systems.

We welcome practical experience papers in all areas where computer-based systems are related to safety. Relevant industrial sectors include, but are not restricted to, transport (especially avionics and railways), health, defence, processing, power and emergency services. Papers will be reviewed by the Technical Committee. Accepted papers will be published in the ACS's Conferences in Research and Practice in Information Technology (CRPIT) series. Papers should be written to be of interest to a general audience, and should include sufficient context for their soundness to be judged. Commercially sensitive details can be suppressed provided the committee is able to assure itself that actual industrial experience is being reported. All aspects of the system safety life-cycle are of interest.

To submit a paper, post or email a copy of the full paper to the Workshop Chair at the address below. Please submit a brief (one page) abstract in advance. Completed papers and drafts should clearly show the name, affiliation, and email or postal address of each of the authors. At time of submission, the Workshop Chair should also be sent the phone and fax number of the principal author for correspondence. There is no pre-defined limit on the length of papers, but ten pages is generally sufficient. CRPIT guidelines should be followed (A4 paper).
