The Australian Computer
Society
The Australian Computer Society's Technical Committee on Safety Critical Systems provides policy and technical advice to the ACS in matters of safety for computer-based systems, and promotes best practice and the maintenance of high standards among the IT profession. Members of the Committee represent a cross section of interested parties from industry, government and academia.
The Committee holds an annual National Workshop on Safety Critical Systems and Software.
Previous workshops were held in 1996 in Brisbane, in 1997 in Sydney, in 1998 in Adelaide, in 1999 in Canberra, in 2000 in Melbourne, in 2001 in Brisbane and in 2002 in Adelaide.
A position paper on safety-related systems containing software was released in 1996. A position paper on competency assessment was prepared in 2002.
A website is under development.
The technical committee will become the initial executive committee of the Australian Safety Critical Systems Club.
