Situated within the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture & Information Technology, the School of Information Technology & Electrical Engineering aims to advance, develop, disseminate and exploit knowledge in Information and Communications Technology and Engineering (ICT&E) by the conduct of outstanding and impactful research and by the effective delivery of university-level courses to meet the needs of the community.

ITEE has active research programs and links with national and international centres of excellence in the following areas of strength: biomedical imaging; data & knowledge engineering; E-research; systems & software engineering; power and energy systems; ubiquitous computing; security & surveillance; complex & intelligent systems; microwave & optical communications; and cognitive systems engineering.

The role The role of the Chair will be to provide academic leadership to the field of power engineering, to work with other members of the Power and Energy Systems Research Group, and to build and maintain a vibrant research program. The role of the Chair will also to be active in teaching and be engaged in university and community service. The appointee will maintain a close relationship with the Australian and Queensland power industry and with the API and Powerlink Queensland in particular. The appointee will keep abreast of and be responsive to the industry’s and Powerlink’s needs in terms of technology development and research. The appointee will also work with the industry, other universities and API/Powerlink to help ensure that the supply of engineers in this field matches demand.

The person Applicants must hold a PhD in electrical engineering or a related field, or an equivalent mix of qualifications and experience.

Remuneration This is a continuing, full-time position at Academic Level E. The remuneration package will be $134,840.59 plus employer superannuation contributions of 17% of salary. Total package will be $157,763.49 p.a.
