Adaptive e-Learning Considerations

Speaker: Alex Pongpech, ITEE

When: 01.00PM, Monday 26 May 2003

Venue: 78-622

Host: Prof. Maria Orlowska

Abstract:

At the present time, e-learning systems provide educational services to
particular types of learner. The development of numerous,
heterogeneous e-learning systems amounts to an inefficient
distribution of resources since, typically, the content of such
systems potentially can be used by learner types other than those
targeted. Having a single system capable of supporting a variety of
learner types will facilitate ease of distribution of e-learning
materials and provide a standardised framework to support system
scalability with respect to ever-changing learning materials. This
paper conceptualises a single system capable of extending
educational services to a wider range of learners. The systems
approach adopted here aims to compose e-courses-in a dynamic and
adaptive manner-on the basis of learner profiling, using existing
  database and workflow technologies.
