Context Driven Situation Detection and Management
Speaker: Paul O'Brian, UQ Business School
When: 02.00PM, Thursday 06 Nov 2003
Venue: 78-420
Host: A/prof Bob Colomb
Abstract:
As technology users become more mobile, services will need to be delivered anywhere, at any time to many different types of devices. The key to delivery of such ubiquitous services is the ability to detect user and service situations and to take appropriate action. Detection of situations requires awareness of some dimensions of user and service contexts. The more dimensions, the more accurate and detailed situation detection and broader application. This paper describes a context driven approach to the detection and management of situations. The mechanisms described are based on an ontology of situations that was developed as the core of the mechanism. Issues addressed include context specification, context comparison, context switching, situation detection and situation management.
