Upcoming and past seminar announcements

Mailing list

There is a majordomo mailing list seminar-announce for receiving ITEE school seminar announcements.

ITEE members should not need to do anything in order to receive these announcements. They should be forwarded to you via one of the ITEE staff, postgrad or academic mailing lists. If you are a ITEE member and not on one of these lists, you probably should ask to be added to the appropriate list.

Non-ITEE members can join the list as follows: send an email to majordomo@itee.uq.edu.au with the following line in the message body:

subscribe seminar-announce (email-address)

You may be able to use the ITEE majordomo list manager at http://lists.itee.uq.edu.au to check list membership and request admission to the list. (Access may be restricted to ITEE-internal users only?)

Web site

ITEE seminar announcements and information about booking procedures can be found at http://www.itee.uq.edu.au/~seminar

Booking a seminar

When convening a seminar, please provide the following information to the seminar co-ordinator (contact details below), preferably via email. It will help me if you submit this in plain text form, as per this template, and the guidelines below.

  • ITEE host (A member of ITEE should agree to host the seminar, conventionally to look after speakers if they are non-school visitors, introduce the speaker at the start of the seminar, etc.)
  • Time (You can request a particular time. Standard ITEE seminar times and locations are block booked (see below). Contact the seminar co-ordinator to make use of a slot in a block booking. Alternatively, you can check and book a room yourself using the ITEE room booking system to see if a suitable venue is available at your preferred time. Be aware that of those rooms on the booking system, only room 78-420 is data projector equipped. )
  • Seminar title and abstract
  • Speaker name, organisation/affiliation and short biography
  • Seminar status (If the seminar is, e.g., by a ITEE student, this should be indicated)
  • Content of talk (Optional. It is suggested that speakers might make the content of their talks available electronically in whatever form is convenient, for archival by ITEE, subject to copyright or other intellectual property considerations.)
  • Duration of talk (Please let me know if the seminar is not of 1hr duration)

Preferred seminar times and locations

ITEE school seminars are usually between 9am and 11am on Tuesdays and Thursdays in 78-420 (SVRC seminar room, General Purpose South building). I have block booked 78-420 at 10am on most Tuesdays for the remainder of 2001.
