Dr. Heng Tao Shen is currently a Senior Lecturer in School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, University of Queensland. He received MOE (Ministry of Education) Scholarship, Singapore in 1995 and began his undergraduate study in NUS (National University of Singapore) in 1996. Heng Tao obtained his BSc (1st class Honours) and PhD from Department of Computer Science, NUS in 2000 and 2004 respectively, and then joined the University of Queensland as a Lecturer in June 2004 and a Senior Lecturer (tenure) in March 2007. His research interests include Database, Multimedia/Web search, Mobile/Web information system, Peer-to-Peer computing, etc. Due to his meritorious performance, Heng Tao was rewarded Dean's Graduate Award, in School of Computing, NUS, in 2001 and 2003. Heng Tao has published and served for program committees in most prestigious international publication venues of interests.

UQLIPS: a real-time near-duplicate video detection and retrieval system is now released for trial. Please send me an email for username/password. UQLIPS won the Highly Commended Open Award 2007 in Trailblazer 5 by UniQuest in recognition of the commercial potential of this early-stage research.
