I read the manual of DF50 and its software to understand the system. Then I thought
of the type of users that would be using the software.
I combined several personalities of people I know to create the personae for
this project. I also searched the Internet to find out about the personalities
of gym goers. The information I obtained from the Internet is available in my
blog.
From the personae and scenarios, I redesign the software. I focused on the design
that wll achieve personae’s goals and the functions that will be use daily.
The initial personae developed were:
DF50 - Redundancy Eliminated
My system design does not require the DF50 device to be redesign.I
eliminated the redundancy in the functions of the device. In the
original system, both the
device and the software on the computer can display the result. In my
system, the result can still be displayed on DF50 but only as a feedback
to confirm the readings taken. My system emphasized on the graphical
information
shown on
the computer so the gym instructor will always use their laptop to show and
explain the result to the gym goers.

Here I redesigned the display of readings
results. The results are displayed in a hierarchy, the
most important one at the top. The most important information
are:
- Fat Mass (latest reading)
- Fat Free Mass (latest reading)
- Comparison of latest Fat Mass and Fat Free Mass readings
with two previous readings

In the old system, the gym users age, weight,
height and the algorithm used to calculate the result has to
be entered in the DF50 device everytime a reading is taken.
Connecting the new software to an existing gym user database
can eliminate this redundancy.
Here is the design for the scenario to get the gym goers information
from the database before their readings are taken. |
